I can see my student’s probability on SIFT, but there are no prediction bars on MYschools. Is that because they don’t provide the same prediction for kids applying for 10th?
NYC-SIFT only shows cutoffs for 9th grade applicants. Sorry, I will make a change to make this more clear.
Oh thanks that’s great. So to clarify even further is it not possible to know what your odds are in the 10th grade admissions cycle?
Unfortunately, not right now. I’ve asked the DOE for 10th grade admissions data but they have so far refused all requests. I’m still working on it, although any progress would probably be too late to be useful to you. Sorry!
Also unlike 9th grade, 10th grade seats vary from year to year (sometimes all the way to zero) so it’s hard to predict odds and the DOE doesn’t (or can’t?) tell anyone how many seats are available for the current admissions cycle.
